I can’t remember when but I woke up one day and I was in love with all things camouflage. I use to be asked what was my favorite color on the regular and I would say ” Uh… I don’t have one but I like the shade black, the camouflage print and all the shades of green that are in it.” I actually came to the realization a few years ago that green is my favorite color. Who would’ve thought? lol
I fell in love with camouflage because it always seemed to represent some level of militancy, toughness and to some degree roughness, Growing up I can remember always seeing Rastafarians wearing outfits made of camouflage and khaki fabric. So, in my mind, camouflage and khaki are associated with the Rastafarian style. Some of my favorite artiste performance costumes are usually made of it too so from time to time that validated what I was thinking. I admired that group so much and wanted to be apart of the culture. So in my mind, me wearing camouflage would be a way for me to be associated with them.
Camouflage is often the print of the fabric used to construct the uniform of soldiers. Camouflage has been worn in wars as a means for soldiers to disguise themselves and blend in as apart of nature in their ambush against their enemies. Well, that explains the concept of militancy and roughness I associated with the print. The funny thing too is that Rastafarians and soldiers (well government law enforcement officers probably would be more fitting because some Rastafarians do refer to themselves as soldiers as well) fight a similar but different war if you know what I mean. So I guess some level of my obsession with the print stems from there as well.
Camouflage is often shortened and reffed to as Camo by the fashion world. The print over the years has evolved into a fashion trend. Just a while ago in 2016, it was all thing camo on trend. Camo pieces were sent down the runway by designer after designer. It’s always on trend for me though.
Let us get into this casual chic look I attempted to create. Today I’m rocking a simple long sleeve, white, buttoned-down shirt, and a ripped denim skinny jeans pant. Along with a green, suede, chunky heel. To give the look some character, step it up a notch, give it a little personality, I added one of my favorite camo jackets to the mix. It literally took the look form overly simple to pure chicness with an edge I would say. The button-down shirt is already a long sleeve so I chose a sleeveless jacket because it’s mad hot outside. While itis fall everywhere else it still is very much summer here, so I hardly need any sleeves much less double. I hope you guys are inspired by and enjoy the look. let me know what you think and next time you rock a piece of camo, send me a pic or tag me so we can see whats popping.
Thank you guys for stopping by, see you next post
