THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS (LBD)

The little black dress has come a far way. It has survived and surpassed people referring to it as the little boring dress. Boring though it is far from. If your closet is missing a little black dress of some sort then, throw the whole closet away. This piece in your closet is an absolute staple (there I go with this word “staple” again.) But, it is a staple and every female should have one. The little black dress was such a phenomenon growing up. Every fashion TV show or makeover and fashion conversation would highlight the importance of the LBD.

When we hear of the little black dress we think classic, chic, versatile, and timeless. Coco Chanel. As fashion evolves, the key individual started having an influence on the industry. Coco Chanel was a major one of them. Her decision was one that made the little black dress and the concept of it so popular again in the 20s. In 1926 vogue collaborated with Coco and did a fall feature on her little black dress design which centered the nature of the little black dress.

It’s the perfect investment piece. When not styled properly I can be considered the little boring dress at times. So we have to dress it up from time to time allowing it to live up to its true potential.

Similar dresses showing how you can wear a blazer and handbag for the day look then transition to night by removing the blazer and getting an elegant purse.

One legendary attribute of the authentic little black dress is its ability to transition from day to night. Without having to change outfits and very little adjustments or add-ons if any at all. For example; leaving work to attend an evening informal event you would just remove whatever formal blazer you might have worn, add some jewelry maybe change your shoes and add a pop of color. Accessorizing is key when making the day to night transition in the little black dress.
